Staff Spotlight-Alison Lane

Alison Lane is a native of Sullivan and 1998 graduate of Sullivan High School. In 2002, she graduated from Indiana State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. She taught kindergarten for 12 years, and recently began her fourth year teaching first grade at Sullivan Elementary School.

What inspired her to become a teacher:
“Teaching is a passion that's always been rooted deep within me. I can remember as a young child always playing school with my great-grandmother, Dot Elmore. She had the most interesting stories of the one room school house she grew up in. She was an educator as well.”

One of the favorite parts of her day:
“Truly, I just enjoy the children, and helping others! Where else can you go to work and be greeted with high fives, hugs, and smiles each day?”

What she enjoys about teaching for SWSC at Sullivan Elementary School:
“What I love the most is the thought that I'm making a difference in the lives of children in OUR community. Investing in their lives and starting them out with a solid foundation and love for learning can only help our community thrive with success!”

Mrs. Lane added, “Everyone at SES is one enormous family! Also, I appreciate the fact that the administration at Southwest School Corporation listens to their teachers and supports us with training, professional development, technology and any other resource we feel is needed to make the classroom experience top notch!”
