SWSC Announces eLearning Days

SULLIVAN, IN- The Southwest School Corporation will conduct Planned Make-up eLearning Days Friday, February 15 and Monday, February 18, 2019. These eLearning days will serve as required make-up days for the inclement weather closings that occurred on Monday, January 21 and Thursday, January 31, 2019.

Following these planned February make-up days, in the event that SWSC closes school due to inclement weather, SWSC will implement an eLearning Day on the same day as the closing. All eLearning make-up days will be announced via School Messenger, the district website, and social media.

What is an eLearning Day? If a school closing occurs due to inclement weather, eLearning allows teachers and students to continue the educational process. During an eLearning Day, teachers and students work off school campus. Teachers will post assignments on the district’s learning management system, Canvas, and students will access those assignments off campus through Canvas. Teacher and technical assistance will be available to students during designated office hours. The school buildings will be closed to students.

eLearning is an innovative way to provide a seamless educational experience for students through the use of technology. SWSC Superintendent Chris Stitzle explained, “Offering an excellent educational experience to our students is a top priority. eLearning is a way for SWSC to continue to provide high-quality educational opportunities to our students outside of the traditional classroom.”
