Dear SWSC Families,
The links above include our updated school plan and the State's recommendations concerning the color coding of counties.

  • Sullivan County is now ORANGE
  • Sullivan County moved to ORANGE for the past week.

For the week of November 9, 2020 - November 13, 2020, Southwest School Corporation  will continue to operate on the current schedule:

K-5: In-Person Learning – Monday through Friday
6-12: In-Person Learning – Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday; 6-12 Online/E-Learning – Wednesday.

E-Learning Day Change

The corporation-wide E-Learning Day scheduled on Friday, November 13, 2020 will now be an in-person school day

At this time, Southwest School Corporation will continue with current procedures for conducting extra-curricular activities which includes: limiting spectators, wearing masks, and promoting social distancing.  However this could be modified if needed due to the increase in community spread.

The Covid-19 cases in Sullivan County continue to rise, however, school cases have remained low.  As a result we have maintained our current school schedule. But as a reminder to each parent and guardian it is important to be prepared for possible adjustments to the plan throughout the school year as we strive to adhere to state and local guidelines.

These adjustments could result in a change to the school schedule.  It is important to have a plan developed and ready to implement if a change becomes necessary.

Southwest School Corporation will continue with
current procedures for conducting extra curricular activities which includes limiting spectators, wearing masks, and promoting social distancing.

PARENT REMINDER:  SELF-SCREENING for COVID-19 Symptoms

Southwest School Corporation (SWSC) will require all parents/guardians to self-screen their child(ren) for symptoms of COVID-19 each morning before school.

Symptoms Impacting Consideration for Exclusion from School:

  • CHILLS or FEVER of 100.4 degrees or greater
  • COUGH, especially new onset, uncontrolled cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • HEADACHE, particularly new onset of severe headache with fever
  • SORE THROAT
  • NEW LOSS of taste or smell

Students should be excluded from school if they test positive for COVID-19 or exhibit one or more of the symptoms of COVID-19 based on CDC Guidance that is not otherwise explained.

Please feel free to contact Susan Tincher, SWSC Nurse, with any questions or concerns at 812-268-3341, extension 2765, or email stincher@swest.k12.in.us.

The key for keeping our schools open is to continue to follow the recommended guidelines from the Indiana and Sullivan County Department of Health.

We do this by:
WEARING OUR MASKS
SOCIAL DISTANCING
WASHING OUR HANDS
STAYING HOME WHEN WE ARE SICK

Together we will make this year a success! Thank you for your patience, flexibility, and cooperation. As always ..... Thank You for your support of the Southwest School Corporation

Chris Stitzle
Superintendent
