SWSC Schedule November 30-December 4

SWSC Schedule November 30-December 4
Posted on 11/25/2020

 Dear Parents and Guardians:

Using the updated guidance from the Indiana Department of Health (see attached) and in consultation with the Sullivan County Health Department, the Southwest School Corporation will resume the following schedule beginning Monday, November 30, 2020 through December 4, 2020.

· Grades K-5: In-Person Learning – Monday through Friday

· Grades 6-12: In-Person Learning – Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday;

· Grades 6-12: Online/E-Learning - Wednesday

Sullivan County remained at RED and Per the Governor’s Executive Order and guidance from the Local Health Department, the Southwest School Corporation will be following updated guidelines for conducting extra-curricular activities which includes: limiting spectators, requiring the wearing of masks, and promoting social distancing.

When the county is RED  the following spectator restrictions will be observed at all Southwest School Corporation Schools—Athletic teams only. No cheer, dance, band or coaches spouses. Up to 2 tickets per player for parents/guardians only.

I have also attached the latest guidance from the Indiana Department of Health concerning Pre-K12 recommendations.  This was updated on November 17, 2020.

PARENTS AND GUARDIANS: Please be prepared for possible adjustments to the plan throughout the school year as we strive to adhere to state and local guidelines. These adjustments could result in a change to the school schedule.

It is important to have a plan developed and ready to implement for your child if a schedule change becomes necessary.

Southwest School Corporation (SWSC) will require all parents/guardians to self-screen their child(ren) for symptoms of COVID-19 each morning before school.

Symptoms Impacting Consideration for Exclusion from School:

  • CHILLS or FEVER of 100.4 degrees or greater
  • COUGH, especially new onset, uncontrolled cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • HEADACHE, particularly new onset of severe headache with fever
  • NEW LOSS of taste or smell

Students should be excluded from school if they test positive for COVID-19 or exhibit one or more of the symptoms of COVID-19 based on CDC Guidance that is not otherwise explained.

Please feel free to contact Susan Tincher, SWSC Nurse, with any questions or concerns at 812-268-3341, extension 2765, or email stincher@swest.k12.in.us.

The key for keeping our schools open is to continue to follow the recommended guidelines from the CDC, Indiana Department of Health, and Sullivan County Department of Health.

We do this by continuing these practices.....

Thanks again to each of you for your patience, flexibility, and cooperation and your support of the SWSC!

Happy Thanksgiving!
